Adjustment Disorder (AD)
In 2013 the mental health system of diagnostics renamed and redefined Adjustment Disorder and started to call it Stress Response Syndrome.
An Adjustment Disorder or what is now called Stress Response Syndrome usually happens around the time any person can not bring themselves to accept or adjust to a certain change or event in their life.
People suffering from an adjustment disorder usually have very similar symptoms as those suffering from depression so wrong diagnosis or treatment is quite frequent.
When you get attention from people the brain releases dopamine which is the chemical that gives you the feel good factor and happy feelings. Getting extra attention more than one would normally require or desire could be a sign that there is a different problem or other cause of this behavior.
Classical Depression is often an internal problem or has roots internally in the mind or the body but adjustment disorders are very different as they are created from external situations or changes.
Stress Response Syndrome (Adjustment Disorder) is quite often a disorder that only lasts a short time and in many cases when they change resolves or natural adjustment occurs the problem can subside.
Adjustment Disorder will be something that is normally mental only so very often there is no actual psysical symptoms like there is with classic depression.
