Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a very serious mental illness that is said to develop after someone is exposed to or has suffered one or more traumatic experiences.

Classic PTSD is normally considered to happen after events such as rape, life threatening experiences or serious injury.

PTSD is much more than what is publicized on the web and in publications, butwe at local rehabs believe that it can happen after what many people would consider minor problems or issues. Everything that causes a problem in your life has after effects that linger later and we believe these can be considered PTSD.

Anything that can be considered tramuatic or has affected you at the time can come back later to `haunt you` and this is is often seen in people that have been exposed to a series of bad things.

Lots of ex military suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for the simple fact they often experience many things that one would not normally see in daily life.
Children who have been through divorce can have PTSD because they have seen the world they live in broken apart at an early age. Although it is hard to compare divorce with ex milatary having seeing people killed it is no less of a trauma that can and will often need revisiting at a later date and often will need treatment.
